Véronique Bulach from the University of Strasbourg about importance of students' interaction and the shape of a molecule.
On April 16-20 2018, invited professor from the University of Strasbourg, Dr. Veronique Bulach was teaching "Bonds and Molecules" (chemistry) class to the second-year Chemical Engineering students. Ms Bulach did her PhD in bioorganic chemistry, which is a study about biological molecules. She was teaching to the students "the pure chemistry class" as she calls it. "If you are a chemist, or if you learn chemistry, you must have the capacity to imagine the shape of the molecule in order to be able to better understand how the molecule will be reacting."
When asked about the opportunities that open to students of chemical engineering and benefits of double diploma Véronique noted: "The bachelor degree of chemical engineering at UFAZ will open all the doors to the students. They could decide to continue with the Master degree here at UFAZ at some point or to follow the Master degree in another country, in another university. The diploma of UFAZ is at exactly the same level than the degree of the University of Strasbourg. When you have a Bachelor degree you can enter any job related to the chemical engineering at the technician level."
Professor Bulach also stressed that in order not to panic every time right before the exam, it is vital to "work all long semester." And this of course is a rule for all students, not only the UFAZ ones. According to Véronique, what is also important is the level of interaction during the lectures. Students should never hesitate to ask questions because this can shed the light on all the small but important details left unclear.
