We are proud to announce that ActInSpace 2022 Azerbaijan finalists Nexus team of UFAZ students, Omar Nuruzada, Emin Khalifayev, Gular Ismayilova, Sanan Chaharkama and Araz Shafiyev won 1st place at the ActInSpace Grand International Finals in Cannes, France!

The team offered a solution that optimizes flight trajectories to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The winners received Airbus 310 Zero G grand prize - a flight in weightlessness.

Additionally, Nexus team also won the special prize offered by the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) before the finals. The EUSPA prize calls on tomorrow’s innovators to develop products/ services that can support an energy transition to renewable energy sources or improve energy efficiency and conservation.

Organized by the French National Center for Space Research (CNES) and the European Space Agency (ESA), ActInSpace is an international hackathon where use of space technologies is encouraged to contribute to society. In total, 66 cities from 35 countries were represented this year by extremely talented teams, who proposed projects of remarkable quality.
