UFAZ fourth-year Chemical Engineering students Iskandar Zeynalov and Suleyman Gafarli participated in two-month Summer Internship Program 2019, organized by NORM LLC, the largest cement plant in the South Caucasus.

Applicants from various disciplines, including Mechanics, Construction Engineering, Law, Geology, Accounting and Auditing, and Business Administration, took part in the selection examination process and 24 students among candidates were selected following an interview conducted by NORM HR Department, based on their motivation, skills, and academic achievements.

Iskandar Zeynalov: “I first came across the program on the internet and decided to take part in to enhance my practical skills. Throughout seven-week program I participated in various training sessions, including “Job Interview Guidelines”, “Instructions in Creating Resume”, “General HSE (Health and Safety Executive) Awareness”. Since I was working at the Department of Quality Control and Quality Assurance, I was spending most of my time at the LABs. We were investigating the quality and usability of the cement samples we were receiving. I also had the opportunity to take part in field trips and witness the processes. At the end of the program, each of us delivered a comprehensive presentation about the work we have been doing over the past 7 weeks, and all students received a certificate.”

Suleyman Gafarli: “Being a part of NORM Summer Internship Program 2019 enhanced my practical skills alongside theoretical ones. Also, working simultaneously with Chief Process Engineer of NORM, Mr. Emin Garibov gave me an opportunity to dive into my vocational subjects as well as how to optimize production processes.”

Established in 2006, Norm Cement plant is the largest cement plant in the South Caucasus with production capacity of 5 thousand tons clinker per day and 2 million tons of cement per year. The company was established for the implementation of industrial projects and since 2008 has concentrated its efforts on the development of the Cement Plant project. World’s leading consultants and experts in the cement industry have been involved into the project’s implementation.
