2019-05-02

On April 17, 2019 UFAZ Scientific Expert for Computer Science and Head of CSTB (Complex Systems and Translational Bioinformatics) research team of ICube Laboratory at the University of Strasbourg Prof. Pierre Collet (PhD HDR) delivered an engaging scientific lecture on “The future of AI inspired by ancient and modern philosophers” in the framework of UFAZ Scientific Conferences 2019.

Prof. Pierre Collet introduced the audience recent results of Deep Learning and problems it conveys both in ethics and law. He presented how Imagination, Reason, and Memory can indeed be successfully combined together in order to create a reliable Explainable Artificial Intelligence, by putting together findings by antique and recent philosophers, namely French philosopher Michel Serres, and physicists. “Today is another era in the externalization of body function and what we have been doing with a computer - we have been objectifying cognitive functions by putting the computer Memory, Imagination and Reason. All in all, the unbelievable parable of St. Denis is much more interesting than any other philosophies since it describes exactly what we are living right now,” concludes Prof. Collet his conference.

The lecture wrapped up with the question and answer session by the students of UFAZ and other universities, as well as external guests representing ASOIU, ADA University, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and other Research institutions in Baku.
