Speakers of the conference
On November 1, 2019 in the framework of the 2nd edition of the Baku Cultural Heritage Festival 2019, organized by the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, the French-Azerbaijani University hosted for the second year in a row, the opening conference of the festival, dedicated to "Architectural Heritage: European and Azerbaijani Experiences”, with the participation of international experts and world-famous architects.
Opening the event, Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas highlighted the significance of organizing such conferences in preserving Baku historical monuments and promoting its architecture. He also mentioned that hosting this conference in the premises of UFAZ was very symbolic since UFAZ is the embodiment of a European university in Azerbaijan.
Expressing his gratitude to the organizers of the event, French Ambassador to Azerbaijan H.E. Zacharie Gross noted that the topic of the conference is of general concern throughout the world, and especially in France, where actions are often initiated by the civil society to protect the heritage and history of their cities.
International experts and architects from Spain, Belgium, Italy, and Azerbaijan delivered lectures on the preservation of cultural heritage, and shared their views and experiences with a numerous audience of 100 participants.
To recall, the name of the festival comes from famous hamam built in the 19th century in Baku.
This is the second edition of this festival aimed at raising awareness about the importance of preserving cultural heritage in Baku and Azerbaijan. It will be held from 1-15 November 2019 in Baku, Ganja and Nij, Gabala.

The FANTAZIA Cultural Heritage Festival is organized by the European Union Delegation in partnership with the EU Member States and third countries, namely France, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary, Moldova, Mexico, Argentina, Tajikistan, Venezuela as well as local partners, including the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, Baku city Main Department of Culture, the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher”.
