UFAZ hosted 2nd Salon Universitaire Francophone

On April 7, 2019, the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) hosted the 2nd edition of the Salon Universitaire Francophone, an international university fair organized by the Embassy of France in Azerbaijan and Campus France Azerbaïdjan, within the framework of Les Semaines de la Francophonie 2019. The fair consisted of three main parts: introductory speeches by the Ambassadors of the represented countries; the individual talks and meetings at each stand during the fair; presentations by the universities administration to the participants of the fair.

The main goal of this fair was to represent universities of the countries-members of the Francophone organization who offer programs/courses in French. It was especially interesting for students learning French and planning to continue their higher education studies abroad.

Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov, ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan HE Aurelia Bouchez, Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan HE Dan Iancu, Ambassador of Moldova to Azerbaijan HE George Leuka, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan Ambassador HE Kestutis Jankauskas and Cultural and Education attaché of the Hungarian Embassy participated in the official opening ceremony.

Opening the event, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov highlighted the history of the long-standing cooperation between Azerbaijan and France and recalled the importance of the educational partnership between the two countries, as well as the contribution of such exhibitions to this path. He also underlined that UFAZ is a unique educational initiative and a second-to-none example in Azerbaijan so far.

The event continued with Francophone Universities (including UFAZ) representing their information stands and conducting comprehensive presentations.

Countries represented were Romania (Pitesti University), Moldova (Free International University of MoldovaMoldova State University and “Ion Creanga” State Pedagogical University of Chisinau), Hungary (ELTE UniversitySzeged University and Pecs University), Belgium (College of Europe), and France (Campus France, IFALyon 2 Lumiere University, UFAZ, University of StrasbourgGrenoble INP group/Grenoble INP Pagora School) as well as local institutions who promote studies in French and help young students travel to France to pursue higher qualification. The “University Foundation Center” chaired by Ms. Reyhan Huseynova, the French High School of Baku, The University Success Center of the University of Languages and Erasmus+ of the EU Delegation were also part of the fair.
