Marie-Claire Pierret, UFAZ professor of Earth Science from the University of Strasbourg
On December 7 2018, UFAZ professor of Earth Science from the University of Strasbourg Marie Claire Pierret held a scientific conference for students and outside guests about The Strengbach Catchment. The Strengbach Catchment is a French critical zone observatory founded by the French National CNRS Research Institute and forms part of the OZCAR research infrastructure. This watershed is located on the Vosges Massif (880-1150 m) and is the site of the Observatoire Hydro-Géochimique de l’Environnement (OHGE).
Ms Pierret spoke largely about the pluridisciplinary research studies conducted on the Strengbach Catchment. She noted that they enable the exploration of the questions of evolution of preservation of the water resources in mountainous environments and also the soil mineral fertility and forest health, in order to model the future responses of ecosystems to environmental disturbances.
The lecture wrapped up with the question and answer session by the students of UFAZ, as well as visiting guests who represented Azerbaijan academy of sciences and other research institutions of Baku.
