UFAZ students participated in the British Petroleum 2018 Summer School

2018-09-17

We have been telling you the stories of our students who had their first work experience this summer. We have covered in our news Baylar and his internship at Azersun, group of students who passed the exam and were admitted to the Schlumberger Summer Camp. Now we are introducing four students from the Geophysics department of UFAZ who have successfully accomplished 2018 summer school on geology organized by BP. Gunay Nadjafzada, Aghateymur Hasanzada, Ruslan Malikov, Tofig Nazarbayov and Fidan Djafarova.

During three weeks of internship, our students studied Structure and Sedimentology, learned some practical tips about strategic geological locations and worked with modern geological equipment. Professor John Weber from the US’s Grand Valley University taught the structure part while Elmira Aliyeva from BP taught the Sedimentology course.

Students were able to then practice what they have learned at the geological territories such as Kirmaki valley, Yasamal hill, Xizi and Beshbarmaq mountains, Sumqayit and Shurabad beaches. They were also taken to the “AzLab” to undertake research over the Shakhdaniz and Gunashli fields.

Students received diplomas of completion and said it was a very practical and one-of-a-kind course. It allowed them to have a closer look at the field where they could potentially work in the future.
