UFAZ first-year Computer Science student Rashid Aliyev will continue his studies at the University of Strasbourg starting from September 2018, with a scholarship of excellence given by the French embassy to Azerbaijan.

First-year student of the Computer Science faculty Rashid Aliyev was given a unique chance to continue studying in France. However, it was not all of a sudden, Rashid has gone a long way studying French and preparing to continue his studies in France at Strasbourg University. Rashid Aliyev went to the Lyceum named after Zarifa Aliyeva. While at the 10^th grade, Rashid was given a unique chance to spend two months at a high school in France, thanks to the University Foundation Center (UFC) where he intensively studied French for one year.

“I was attracted to French language since grade five because of its special vocal tones and very special pronunciation rules. Together with my sister, we spend two months at the George de la Tour Lyceum in Metz. This gave me a chance to improve my French. Already at that time, I made up my mind to come back and pursue higher education degree in France. It was great to be admitted to the Computer Science faculty of the French-Azerbaijani University. This gave me hope to go back for master’s degree to my beloved France.

My French professor Sabina Mahmudova has motivated me a lot during classes and helped me to work on my profile. UFAZ Secretary General Charlotte Payen has also played a big role in my preparatory work and gave valuable advice, for which I am very thankful.

The knowledge I have acquired during my foundation year at UFAZ has proven my eagerness to study in accordance with the French education system. I am grateful to this one-of-a-kind University in Azerbaijan that will surely raise many generations of great specialists for the better future of our country!”

Like all UFAZ students, Rashid Aliyev is officially a student of the University of Strasbourg since September 2017. However, starting from September he will be continuing his studies in Computer Science in Strasbourg in French language (and not in English as it is the case for the rest of UFAZ students).

Rashid Aliyev will be the first UFAZ student to be transferred to Strasbourg to continue his higher education entirely in French language!
