2019-04-16

On April 9, 2019, UFAZ first-year Chemical Engineering students, together with UFAZ Student Affairs Specialist Gunay Farzaliyeva, visited CNIM Waste-to-Energy Plant, managed by  "Tamiz Shahar” JSC and established in 2012 following the official inauguration by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Students firstly visited the Solid Waste Sorting Facility and received a comprehensive introduction on how the waste is sorted and processed.

Later on, a representative of the Solid Waste Incineration Plant conducted a structured presentation and explained the process in detail – after sorting facility, the waste is burned and the plant transforms heat energy to electric energy. Students were eventually taken to the plant to see the process in place.

Such field trips are an integrated part of the curriculum of UFAZ students, in order for them to get familiar with the professional and industrials spheres active in Azerbaijan.

CNIM Azerbaijan LTD, managed by Tamiz Shahar JSC (Clean City), was established with the purpose of targeting the existing ecological problems in Absheron region. This modern plant is part of a complex plan of measures that have great importance for the enhancement of the environment in Baku and Absheron peninsula.
