Schlumberger representatives from Drilling & Manager Department - Bakhtiyar Hasanov, Operation Manager and Kanan Salmanov, Field Quality Manager
On October 4, 2019, Schlumberger representatives from Drilling & Manager Department - Bakhtiyar Hasanov, Operation Manager and Kanan Salmanov, Field Quality Manager delivered their first session of a new joint series of lectures to UFAZ fourth-year Petroleum and Geophysical-Geoscience Engineering students.
In his introductory speech, Mr. Hasanov provided students with insights about the nature of Schlumberger, the world's largest oilfield services company and its activities all around the world, specifically in Azerbaijan.
The first lecture was solely dedicated to Mud Logging, a service run during all phases of well construction process which is commonly used in petroleum exploration. Mr. Salmanov comprehensively elaborated on three activities, namely formation monitoring, drilling monitoring and last but not the least, mud logging acquisition system.
Students were invited to ask theme related questions throughout the lecture.
UFAZ concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schlumberger in July 2019 that seeks to enhance and develop opportunities for internship and practical work for UFAZ students, as well as to foster educational and joint scientific-research programs.
Last year, UFAZ welcomed Aydin Karimov, Country Managing Director of Schlumberger for Azerbaijan and Georgia, for an insightful lecture about leadership.
Since 2018, thoroughly selected students have also been participating in the annual Schlumberger Summer Camp in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
