Technical lectures of BP and Schlumberger to UFAZ students

2019-12-19

Throughout the Fall semester of 2019/2020 academic year, representatives of British Petroleum (BP), British multinational oil and gas company and Schlumberger, international oilfield services company founded in France, conducted technical sessions for UFAZ fourth-year Geosciences Engineering and Oil & Gas Engineering students embedded in their curricula.

Specialists from those companies engaged in fruitful and constructive exchanges with UFAZ students and provided them with insights on various topics, including “South Caspian Basin – Unique Basin, Unique Approach”, “Seismic acquisition and processing”, “Exploration tools and processes”, “Drilling & Completions”, “Fundamentals on reservoir engineering”, “Fundamentals of petroleum engineering”, “Role of geoscientist in drilling and completion/planning new well”, etc.

On December 11, in order to show their sincere appreciation, UFAZ Management invited the engineers involved in the lectures to the annual Unistra student card ceremony 2019.

During this ceremony, Rector of ASOIU, Prof. Mustafa Babanli and Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan, HE Zacharie Gross, handled certificates of appreciation to Emmanuel Ellenberg, Azerbaijan & Georgia Operations Manager of Schlumberger Well Services, Kanan Salmanov, Field Quality Manager of Schlumberger Drilling & Manager Department, Arzu Javadova, BP's Petroleum Systems Analyst and Ilaha Bunyatova, BP Geophysicist.

We are sharing the warmest impressions of our students about the BP and Schlumberger lectures:

Nargiz Mammadova, 4th year Geosciences Engineering student: “BP lectures are very beneficial and maybe one of the best courses this year, all trainers are sharing knowledge in a very approachable way!”

Laman Aliyeva, 4th year Geosciences Engineering student: “It is absolutely a great opportunity to have these lectures in our syllabus. These are very productive, informative and applicable lectures. To meet real industry, engineers is affecting our vision. Simultaneously, it gives us expanding networks.”

Rashad Naghizade, 4th year Geosciences Engineering student: “There are really useful and informative lectures delivered by BP and Schlumberger. They help us to understand the real expectations in the industry!.”

To recall, UFAZ concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schlumberger in July 2019 that seeks to enhance and develop opportunities for internship and practical work for UFAZ students, as well as to foster educational and joint scientific-research programs.
