2018-06-20

On June 14 2018, the Secretary General of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), Mr Gerard Gasquet visited UFAZ as part of his official mission to the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. Mr Gasquet has been working at the University since 2012 and refers to his work as to "a unique opportunity as well as a fascinating challenge to deal with."

The USTH, also called "Vietnam-France University", is a unique International Standard Public University in Hanoi established in 2009 between the governments of France and Vietnam.

The University of Science and Technology of Hanoi offers training courses at three levels: BachelorMaster and PhD. USTH is the first University in Asia to follow the Bologna process for Diploma (LMD system 3/5/8), the model is widely used in most of the universities in Europe. The training duration of Bachelor is 3 years, Master is 2 years and PhD is 3 years. All courses are given in English. All Bachelor and Master training programs have been accredited by the HCERES (The High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education in France) (source: www.usth.edu.vn)

Mr Gasquet talked largely about the unique advantages that are offered by the USTH that are common to those at UFAZ. This includes the education in English language, unique laboratories where students do the practical works guided by the French professors that teach at the USTH. Students also have chance to do an internship in France in scientific laboratories.

This meeting between USTH and UFAZ management was a very fruitful exchange of experiences and views on the best possible ways to sucessfully establish French Higher Education Institutions abroad.
