From April 10th, the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) started hosting Francophonie Week, featuring a range of events to celebrate the French language and culture. On the opening event, with the support of New Azerbaijani Party (NAP) and Azerbaijan-France Alumni Association (AAAF), as part of the “100-year anniversary of Heydar Aliyev", a conference entitled "Heydar Aliyev: Azerbaijan-France Relations" was presented by Novruz Mammadov, Former Prime Minister.

Executive Director of UFAZ, Member of NAP board and Chairman of AAAF Vazeh Askarov, welcomed the guests and gave a brief information about the life path of Novruz Mammadov.
Novruz Mammadov, who was the Head of the International Relations Department at the Presidential Administration from 1997 to 2017, shared his memories about the role of the national leader in the development of bilateral relations. N. Mammadov recalled his memories as a translator at the first meeting of Jacques Chirac and Heydar Aliyev, and the discussions that lasted until the morning about the composition of the Minsk Group. He particularly noted how Heydar Aliyev thoroughly prepared for meetings to convince his interlocutors.
Highlighting the current bilateral relations, he said that there have always been ups and downs in the relations between the countries. Making and maintaining relations acceptable to both sides places an additional burden and responsibility on diplomats working in this field.
In the end, Novruz Mammadov answered the questions of the guests.
