2019-10-14

On October 10th 2019, UFAZ hosted BP's Petroleum Systems Analyst Arzu Javadova who delivered a training to the Geophysics students. The training covered both theoretical and practical parts of BP's activities in Azerbaijan. She stressed the importance of understanding of the Industry before choosing a specific company to work for.

She spoke about the BP working environment - an open-space area in the office where everyone can see/hear each other. Arzu noted that this structure allows the employees to interact and discuss the agenda all together and add up to one another's conclusions during the day. Integration is important at any work place. Successful interaction makes it more pleasant to work with each other.

Students should spend good time in understanding the raw data, observations made in the field, analogues around the world, subsurface challenges of the basin and etc. There are number of techniques that been build and applied to respond to the subsurface challenges BP and partners experience during exploration and development of the oil and gas fields in the Caspian basin. Arzu also covered the history of oil production in Azerbaijan and highlighted the importance of further targeted exploration work in Azerbaijan. She gave high level information on upcoming exploration works in Azerbaijan that includes drilling of Shafag-Asiman exploration well in deep water Caspian.

Arzu has received questions throughout the training which made it possible to answer as many questions as possible not only during the late Q&A session but from the first minutes of the training.
