Azerbaijani Women in Science event held at UFAZ
On March 9th, French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) in partnership with the association of Azerbaijani Women in Science (AWiS) and the French Embassy to Azerbaijan, will organize a panel discussion “Women in Science in Global Europe of Higher Education, Research and Innovation”.
In the welcoming part of the event, Prof. Rafiq Jamalov, Vice-Rector of ASOIU, Mrs. Sevinj Fataliyeva, Member of Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Milli Majilis of Azerbaijan Republic, Mrs. Aysel Karimli, Head of Unit at the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education Mr. Jérôme Kelle, Counselor of Cooperation and Cultural Action, French Embassy to Azerbaijan and Prof. Catherine Florentz, Vice President Foresight and Strategic Actions, University of Strasbourg participated and delivered a speech.
The second part of the event - the panel discussion, entitled, “Women in Science in Global Europe of Higher Education, Research and Innovation” was held among Prof. Isabelle Kraus, Vice President Equality, Parity, Diversity, University of Strasbourg, Prof. Alessia Maggi, Deputy Head of the School and Observatory of Earth Sciences (EOST), University of Strasbourg , Mrs. Medina Hajiyeva, Environmental Engineer at FAOUN, Mrs. Gunel Aghabayli, Founder & Director of Azerbaijani Women in Science, and Mrs. Laman Jalilova, UFAZ 4th year Chemical Engineering student.
The event is taking place within the framework the French Presidency of the EU, and in parallel to the Marseille Conference on the Global Europe for Research, Higher Education and Innovation, organized by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Institute of Research for Development and the European Commission, to be held in France.
The objective of this discussion is to highlight the role of women in the area of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in the context of European cooperation both in France and in Azerbaijan. We also believe that this event will help to create stronger links between the association AWiS and our female students to increase in the future the participation of female school girls from different regions of Azerbaijan to UFAZ engineering programs.
