Pierre Parrend, Professor of Operations Systems Architecture
Could you shortly describe your academic background?
I am a professor of Computer Engineering at ECAM (Strasbourg-Europe Engineer School) and the Scientific Head of BICS (Bio-statistics, Informatics, and Complex Systems) platform of ICube Laboratory at the University of Strasbourg. My research field involves cybersecurity of complex systems, that is understanding – and preventing – the cyberattacks in dynamic digital environments: connected factories, medical applications, educational platforms, information systems.
What are your impressions and feedbacks about UFAZ students? How do they differ from the students of the University of Strasbourg?
The group of L2 in Computer Science is a very nice one, they all were very active in the course and the lab sessions. They help each other when needed in a very efficient manner. I encourage all of them to be still more participative in the future!
What do you suggest as part of improvement works in the newly established French-Azerbaijani University?
Starting new courses is always a great challenge and it goes well thanks to the job performed both by the local teachers from UFAZ and Unistra and by the teachers from Strasbourg. Ensure the stability of the exchange, and you will get amazing results!
What are the current trends and career options for UFAZ students after graduation?
UFAZ students will bring a lot to Azerbaijani and regional firms since they are very well trained. For the most motivated ones, I am sure they will feel at home when they come as Master students in Strasbourg.
What do you wish and advice to UFAZ students?
All the best: first of all, a very nice student time at UFAZ. Then to find their way beyond the university with the solid background they will have acquired. My advice? Work hard, and take advantage of the rich network of the UFAZ to get and keep in contact with a maximum number of persons.
