On November 18, ActInSpace international hackathon dedicated to space programs and organized by the French National Center for Space Studies (CNES) and the European Space Agency (ESA) kicked off by the organization of the French-Azerbaijani University. UFAZ hosts this competition for the 3rd time.
Along with students of UFAZ, students of Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Baku Higher Oil School, ADA University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Academy of Public Administration, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Baku branch of Moscow State Medical University, Baku State University, Khazar University, Step IT Computer Academy, students of Khirdalan city schools No. 1 and 2, employees of Azercosmos, Saffron Group and Edumedia companies are participating in the hackathon organized by UFAZ with the partnership of Azercosmos. In total, 143 participants of 31 teams are competing in the hackathon.
Midway between a hackathon and a start-up weekend, ActInSpace takes place concurrently in some 34 countries and 66 cities on all 5 continents. Participants represent different fields and must solve a provided challenge within 24 hours as a team. Open to entrants from all horizons, the competition aims to develop entrepreneurship and forge ties between space stakeholders and citizens by setting challenges for teams to solve based on patents, software, date or space infrastructures.
During 24 hours, more than 20 mentors from different fields will assist and support the teams. The winning team will be sent to France to represent Azerbaijan in the international finals in February.
Along with Azercosmos, the ActInSpace Azerbaijan Hackathon is supported by the French Embassy in Azerbaijan, Step IT, and the C'est Bon company.
