4 UFAZ students are leaving to France for a hackathon dedicated to geosciences and oil and gas activities
On November 21-22, 2019, UFAZ fourth-year Geophysical-Geoscience Engineering students Rashad Nagiyev and Laman Aliyeva and fourth-year Oil&Gas Engineering students Sabuhi Ibrahimli and Ayan Ibrahimova will be participating in the “24H de l’innovation au centre de la Terre” (24 hours of innovation at the center of the Earth), a hackathon organized by Pole Avenia, Geosciences Innovation Valley to be held in Pau Business School (Pau, France).
The 4 UFAZ participants were selected based on their motivation letter, skills, and academic achievements, following an interview conducted by UFAZ Management.
During this 24-hour student competition based on creativity & innovation, expected 150 students will gather together and work in teams on topics proposed by the companies’ members of the Pole Avenia, Geosciences Innovation Valley.
The purpose of this hackathon is to develop, as a team, creative and innovative concepts and products (processes, software, services, communication campaigns ...) on topics related to geoinformation & geomatics, geophysics & geomodelling, drilling & well equipment, logging & monitoring, management & EOR tank, software development, environment, and human resources.
Following the 24h hackathon, the teams will have to make a 3min presentation to defend their concepts and products in front of a jury of professionals. The top three teams will be rewarded and each member will receive a prize.
Pole Avenia, located in Pau in southwest France, is the only French competitiveness cluster in the geosciences sector. It is a unique research potential in France, bringing together more than 4000 geoscience researchers (CSTJF, Institut Carnot ISIFOR, Bordeaux and Pau Universities…) in the Aquitaine region and even across the entire country (BRGM, IFPEN, INERIS…), more than 100 industry partners including, world leaders in energy (Total, GDF Suez, EDF, Vermilion…) and local SMEs and MSEs (INT, Drillstar Industries, Well Staff, Varel Europe, SMP…).
"24 hours of innovation at the center of the Earth" hackathon first started in 2015 and it is the 5th year that the hackhaton is being organized.
