DONATE TO UFAZ

10 students of UFAZ are ranked amongst the 100 best candidates of the French National Mathematics 2019 competition

2019-06-24

On April 3, 2019 in the frame of the weeks of Mathematics, UFAZ hosted the Mathematical Kangourou Competition for its first-year students, thanks to the initiative of Mathematics and Computer Science Professor Loic Cellier from Université de Strasbourg. 35 students were given tasks involving logical thinking and math to solve within 50 minutes.

We are proud to announce that 10 of our UFAZ students were ranked in the top 100 among more than 500 candidates at the French national level. Detailed results are available online.

First-year Chemical Engineering student Laman Jalilova wins the fourth place in the national French contest - she is the first girl of the competition.

“It was so interesting that even though we were tired after the competition, we stayed and went through all the questions one by one to discuss those math problems” Laman concludes.

To recall, Laman is among the top scorers of the state entrance exam for the academic year 2018/ 2019 (SEC 680, UFAZ 72.5 / 100), she was also awarded with the medal in the final stage of "Sabahin Alimleri" (the Scientists of Tomorrow) contest. She is the head of the L0 UFAZ student promotion, with 18, 75 / 20 of annual average.

In order to congratulate them with those excellent results, UFAZ university will send Laman Jalilova (4th place in the competition), first-year Chemical Engineering and Rovshan Alaskarov (34th in the competition), first-year Oil and Gas Engineering, to represent UFAZ during the Kangourou international summer mathematic camp in Avoine (France) from July 11-18.

This trip to France is organized with the support and help of the French Embassy in Azerbaijan and the French Institute

We congratulate our students with their victory and talent, and wish them more achievements to come!

Since 1994, the association "Kangourou Sans Frontières"  (Kangourou without borders) organizes every year the "Kangourou" international mathematics competition for more than six millions of participants all around the world!

The Kangourou competition was initiated back in 1991 by two French teachers (André Deledicq et Jean Pierre Boudine) who decided to start the competition in France under the name "Kangaroo" to pay tribute to their Australian friends.

In the first edition, 120 000 juniors took part. Ever since the competition has been opened to pupils as well as to senior students, followed by 21 European countries forming altogether "Kangaroo without borders".
