Abstract
Complex Systems are the new vision for science since the middle of the XX century. What is revolutionary is that it comes as a realization that hopes to find deterministic and exact laws to model the world are hopeless, possibly simply because down to the bottom, the world is quantic, and by Heisenberg’s principle, it is impossible to determine the position and the speed of a particle at the same time. The implications are immense: the world must now be seen as a set of properties emerging from a large number of autonomous entities interacting together. “The whole is more than the sum of the parts”, as Aristotle said 2400 year ago. Among the implications is the discovery that social sciences are as exact as chemistry or physics because they are of the same nature!
This conference will try to show the roots of this new understanding of the world, and the unity that stems from it, from physics to chemistry to biology up to social sciences.
