Interactive debate: Is the planet a living being?

Climate change, an increasing growth of natural disasters (fires, droughts, floods, etc.), its impact on the Caspian Sea, is the planet in danger?

The celebration of an exchange of ideas among countries and cultures, disciplines and generations: The Night of Ideas is an annual appeal to freely discuss current realities, to listen to those who promote ideas in all fields, to discuss the major issues of our time. On this occasion, this year we invite you to come and attend French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) for an exchange of ideas on the topic: "Is the planet a living being? "

This event is organized by the French Embassy and the French Institute of Azerbaijan in partnership with the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ).

The event is open to all interested members, students, teachers, scientists, philosophers, parents, citizens. The discussion will be introduced by Mr. Dominique Gentils, First Counselor of the French Embassy and Mr. Ilham Mammadzada, Director of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences.

According to the program, discussion  between a French researcher and two Azerbaijani academicians is anticipated:

- Jean-François Crétaux, Researcher at CNES (The National Centre for Space Studies) : «Modern space technologies with an objective to understand the effects of climate change on the planetary living being»
- Ramiz Mammadov, Director of the Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences: "The Caspian Sea - a unique geographic symbol and an " artifact "of the planet"
- Zaur Rashidov, Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences: "Esoteric approach to the Universe in accordance with the tradition of Tasawwuf"

- The evening will be moderated by Mr. Jérôme Kelle, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Activities of the French Embassy and Director of the French Institute of Azerbaijan, and by Ms. Zohra Aliyeva, Director of International Relations of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences.

With the presence of simultaneous translation in Azerbaijani and French languages. Cocktail reception will be offered by Tovuz-Baltiya company.
