Lecture by Farida Gasimova on "Baku – The Largest Historical Transportation Hub in the South Caucasus" will present the history of the origin and development of the architecture of the structures of the main transport hubs of Baku - the railway station, airport, seaport and other objects in the context of cultural heritage. The latest achievements in the modernization of the transport environment of Baku will also be presented.
Short Biography:
Farida Gasimova, an architect by education, researcher, a lecturer at Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University. The topic of her scientific research is a history of formation, development, and modernization of the transport environment architecture of Baku city. She is the author of more than 20 articles and conference speeches about transport architecture and the environment. Farida also participated in many international conferences on the history of German settlements in the South Caucasus: “Architecture – a Bridge between Time and People, History of Construction, Cultural Heritage and Restoration in the South Caucasus” (The 200th Anniversary of German Settlements in the Caucasus Region), “Common Heritage for Cultural Dialogue and Development” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of establishment of the first German settlements in the South Caucasus region. In the field of education, Farida took part in workshops, organized in different years by Romualdo del Bianco Foundation and Politecnico di Milano and participated as a jury member in the “Bella cucina” contest, organized jointly by «Leardini 1964" design group and “Design” chair of AACU. She is also interested in the relationship between architecture, urban environment, and tourism.
